The best time to visit Bhutan is October and November and during major festivals. The climate is best in autumn, from late September to late November, when skies are clear and the high mountain peaks are visible. This is the ideal time for trekking and for travelling throughout the country. You're likely to get wet no matter what the season, but avoid the monsoon, June-August.
Accommodation
Bhutan has comfortable hotels, cottages and guesthouses. Several of these were constructed for the King's coronation in 1974 and have since then been appointed with modern comforts and amenities. In Bhutan there is no star categorization of hotels however at all tourist destinations there are accommodation establishments approved by Department of Tourism, Government of Bhutan. The popular destinations such as Thimphu, Paro, Punakha, Wangduephodrang, Bumthang, Phuentsholing have good standard hotels. But accommodation is basic at Mongar, Trashigang, Gangtey, and Samdrup Jongkhar. All the hotels / lodges / guesthouses are built in traditional architecture offering good cuisine and reasonably decent, clean, accommodation. Away from main towns there are purpose built huts on some of principal trekking routes. Otherwise there is nothing like camping out under the clearest skies that you have ever seen.
National Dress
Western dress in Bhutan is rare to see. Men still wear the traditional knee length, hand woven robe called a gho. Women wear a longer, ankle-length robe called a kira and this is also made from fine, hand-woven fabric, with the pattern usually being distinctive to a particular valley or area.
